What is ISO 22241‑5 - Refilling interface for AUS 32 for passenger cars about?
ISO 22241 is a series of international standards on diesel engines that discusses the NOx reduction agent AUS 32.
ISO 22241‑5 is the fifth part of the ISO 22241 series of documents that specifies the refilling interface for the NOx reduction agent AUS 32 which is needed to operate converters with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) exhaust treatment system.
ISO 22241‑5 specifies the essential functional and geometric requirements of the refilling system in order to ensure compatibility between the onboard refilling system and the offboard
refilling system.
ISO 22241‑5 applies to diesel engine powered road vehicles using selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology.
ISO 22241‑5 is primarily intended for use by passenger cars and light commercial vehicles including buses with a gross vehicle mass of not more than 3,5 t, but can also be used by vehicles with a gross vehicle mass of over 3,5 t.
NOTE: For light commercial vehicles and buses having a gross vehicle mass of not more than 3,5 t, the open refilling system specified in ISO 22241-4 can be used.
Who is ISO 22241‑5 - Refilling interface for AUS 32 for passenger cars for?
ISO 22241‑5 on NOx reduction agent AUS 32 is useful for:
- Road vehicle engineers and manufacturers
- Manufacturers of diesel engines
- Manufacturers and suppliers of fluid equipment components
- Fuel industry
- Personnel of the laboratory to test NOx reduction agent
Why should you use ISO 22241‑5 - Refilling interface for AUS 32 for passenger cars?
ISO 22241‑5 provides the functional requirements of the on-board refilling system and the off-board refilling system for AUS 32.
ISO 22241‑5 navigates you through the dimensional details, geometric location and orientation of the filler neck furnished with a buttress thread S to accommodate an open refilling system.
The dimensional characteristics of the filler nozzle of the screw-coupling design are given in ISO 22241‑5.
ISO 22241‑5 provides details on minimum clearance space i.e., the Class A-free space which is primarily for canister filling and the Class B-free space which is primarily for nozzle filling, or a combination of both free spaces.
General test requirements are mentioned in ISO 22241‑5 to determine the spillage from the nozzle and equipment for the determination of smell.
Minimum strength of filler neck is given in ISO 22241‑5 to prove the ability of the refilling system to disconnect, in the case of the driver failing to uncouple the filler nozzle correctly.
Overall, ISO 22241‑5 guides you on the procedures involved in the refilling interface of AUS 32 for passenger cars diesel engines to enhance the environment in order to protect health, sustain a healthy economy, and contribute to a vibrant economy.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 22241‑5:2019 supersedes BS ISO 22241‑5:2012. BS ISO 22241‑5:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 22241‑5:2012. These include:
- The definition of AUS 32 has been deleted as it is included in ISO 22241-1 and the document is cited normatively
- New definitions have been added
- New normative references have been added
