What is ISO 22760‑2 - Dimethyl Ether (DME) fuel system components about?
ISO 22760 is a series of international standards on road vehicles that discusses the service pressure for Dimethyl Ether (DME) used as fuel.
ISO 22760‑2 is the second part of the ISO 22760 series of documents that specifies performance and general test methods for Dimethyl Ether (DME) fuel system components intended for use on the types of motor vehicles.
NOTE: ISO 22760‑2 is applicable to vehicles (mono-fuel, bi-fuel or dual-fuel applications) using Dimethyl Ether.
NOTE: ISO 22760‑2 is not applicable to the following:
- Fuel containers
- Stationary gas engines
- Container-mounting hardware
- Electronic fuel management
- Refuelling receptacles.
Who is ISO 22760‑2 - Dimethyl Ether (DME) fuel system components for?
ISO 22760‑2 on the DME fuel system is useful for:
- Road vehicle engineers and manufacturers
- Manufacturers of fuel system components
- Manufacturers of Dimethyl Ether
Why should you use ISO 22760‑2 - Dimethyl Ether (DME) fuel system components?
Dimethyl ether (DME) is a synthetically produced alternative to diesel for use in specially designed compression ignition diesel engines.
ISO 22760‑2 navigates you through the properties that fulfill the requirement of the DME fuel.
ISO 22760‑2 provides the test methods for Dimethyl Ether (DME) fuel system components to ensure,
- Hydrostatic strength,
- External and internal leakage,
- Bending moment and continued operation,
- Corrosion resistance,
- Oxygen and ozone ageing,
- Electrical over-voltage,
- Non-metallic material immersion,
- Vibration and Insulation resistance,
- Compatibility with heat exchange fluids of non-metallic parts, and
- Automotive fluid exposure.
Moreover, ISO 22760‑2 assist you to manufacture DME fuel system components for road vehicle engines to ensure fuel's ignitibility in compression ignition engines to check energy efficiency and power ratings increasing their utilization to meet the high efficiency and low emissions regulations in the future.
