What is ISO/IEC 17982 about?
ISO/IEC 17982 specifies the close capacitive coupling communication physical layer (CCCC PHY) for full-duplex and broadcast communication in time slots on frequency division multiplex channels.
ISO/IEC 17982 specifies full-duplex and broadcast communication. A TDS is used for unidirectional communication. A full-duplex channel consists of two TDSs and one TDS is used for broadcast communication.
Note: An implementation for small size and low power devices is provided in Annex B.
Who is ISO/IEC 17982 for?
ISO/IEC 17982 on telecommunications and information exchange is useful for:
- End Users (Listeners and talkers)
- People working in the telecommunication industry
- Communication system developers
Why should you use ISO/IEC 17982?
In today’s digital ecosystem, telecommunication has become the foundation for businesses, governments, communities, and families to seamlessly connect and share information. ISO/IEC 17982 helps to improve the quality of telecommunication.
ISO/IEC 17982 gives guidelines for close capacitive coupling of the communication physical layer (CCCC PHY). ISO/IEC 17982 helps manufacturers to build better systems for communication. Thus, improving the quality of communication. Also, a good communication system would improve the end-user experience of using the telecommunication system. Better information exchange in telecommunication systems would help telecommunication companies to demonstrate their commitment to product quality.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO/IEC 17982:2021 cancels and replaces the ISO/IEC 17982:2012, which has been technically revised.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- The document has been fully aligned with the editorial rules in ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
- Annex B has been added to guide implementation for small size and low power devices.
