What is PD CEN 12333 about?
PD CEN 12333 is an international standard that discusses solutions for quality checks of fertilizers.
PD CEN 12333 is applicable to crushing strength measurement as applied to grains of fertilizer obtained in the prilling or wet-granulation process. Compacted or crystalline materials were not considered.
PD CEN 12333 gives information about standard terms and definitions, testing principles, apparatus required for the test, sample preparation, test procedures, formats of test reports, statistical calculations and expression of results for determining crushing strength of fertilizers grains.
Who is PD CEN 12333 for?
PD CEN 12333 on crushing strength determination on fertilizer grains is applicable to:
- Test houses/laboratories for fertilizers
- Manufacturers of fertilizers
- Distributors, suppliers and importers of fertilizers
- Researchers and developers of fertilizers
Why should you use PD CEN 12333?
The resistance to crushing strength is a vital factor of fertilizer that impacts the quality control of fertilizer production. It influences the storage and handling as well as the spreading properties of fertilizer.
PD CEN 12333 gives you the necessary technical information for determining the crushing strength of fertilizer grains such as sample preparation, test procedure, statistical calculations and expression of results which helps you to analyse the quality of the fertilizer.
Users of PD CEN 12333 can perform the ring test at varying the speed and direction of compression to investigate the crushing strength of fertilizers and enhance the stability and shelf life of the fertilizers.
What’s changed since the last update?
PD CEN/TR 12333:2021 supersedes CR 12333:1996, which is now withdrawn.
Significant changes between PD CEN/TR 12333:2021 and CR 12333:1996 are as follows:
- a) 24/8/8, 13/13/21 and 0/10/20 changed to NPK 24+8+8, NPK 13+13+21 and PK 10+20, respectively
- b) Adaption to current principles and rules for structure and drafting.
