summary
A recommended practice for measuring the resistance of textiles, leather, and composites to wet color transfer.
description
SAE J1326â„¢ APR2026 establishes a test method for ranking the relative resistance of materials, including textiles, leather, and composites, to wet color transfer. The procedure uses a multifiber standard test fabric, controlled wetting, pressure, and oven exposure, followed by classification of staining on a Class 1 to Class 5 scale. This reaffirmed edition includes tolerances for specimen pressure and oven temperature, updated timing guidance, and a spelling correction. It is prepared by the SAE Textile and Flexible Plastics Committee and supersedes SAE J1326 JUN2019.
Application Scope: Testing and quality evaluation of wet color transfer resistance in automotive textiles, leather, composites, and other flexible material applications.
