SAE J2332™ MAR2026 Marking of Rubber Parts

SAE Recommended Practice J2332™ MAR2026 establishes a system for marking thermoset rubber parts by material type to support material selection, recycling, and service identification.

SAE J2332™ MAR2026 provides a standardized system for marking thermoset rubber parts according to the general type of material from which they are fabricated. The recommended practice defines elastomer family names, chemical composition descriptions, standard marking symbols, former designations, and symbols for fillers and reinforcing materials. It also provides guidance for marking location, visibility, durability, molded-in markings, blends, fiber or reinforcement content, and the addition of new marking symbols. This revision supersedes SAE J2332 JUL2013 and supports material selection, end-of-life recycling, manufacturing identification, and field service activities. It references ISO 1043-2, ISO 1629, ISO 11469, VDA 260, and related rubber nomenclature publications.
